Teaching

I have been teaching children and adults at schools and privately since 1992. My principle for teaching is to inspire and motivate my students of all levels to perform at their very best. To play any musical instrument is ultimately an enjoyable pastime and you can expect a friendly and measured approach that will develop your playing through the basics and on towards your goals. Whether for passing grades or just for fun, you can choose your own pieces and styles - I am not a page-turning, tutor book teacher - You will be constantly challenged!

CT ABRSM

As part of my own professional development, I completed a Certificate of Teaching course through the ABRSM in July 2009.

A quick summary...

I started at the age of 13 playing the clarinet and moved on to my principal instrument, saxophone a couple of years later. Since then I've added the piano and flute. I am a very enthusiastic and dedicated musician with over twenty years playing experience and have performed in a wide range of music styles and groups: military band, saxophone quartet, traditional jazz, swing band, rock, blues and funk. I gained a Diploma in performance on saxophone in 1991.

Learning

You never stop learning! And, because we are all different, we also learn in different ways. My lessons are designed to suit your preferred learning style: whether you can or can't read music, have perfect pitch or tone deaf, musical genius or feel like you haven't got a musical bone in your body! - there's a way for all types of people to enjoy music. Music is not an exclusive 'members only' club.
